North Shore 2019 Annual Awards Presentation
The North Shore Annual Awards Presentation is our way of acknowledging and celebrating the exceptional academic achievements of our students. Over 1,000 students of academic excellence and their parents and family were invited to this prestigious event held on Sunday the 10th of November at the Concert Hall, The Concourse in Chatswood.
We were also joined by the Deputy Mayor of Willoughby – Craig Campbell.
This year we introduced new award categories to include students who have successfully gained placement into Opportunity Class (OC) and for high achieving students who sat our new South East Asian Mathematics Olympiad (SEAMO) competition. All students were presented with trophies and certificates and among the guests included Year 6 Scholarship & Selective High School Winners, North Shore’s Selective Written Assessment Test (SWAT) Winners, International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) High Distinction Winners, Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) Medal Winners, high achieving students from the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) Competition, Creative Arts Prize winners in support of our charity association with the Art Gallery of NSW, and students of outstanding results.
Mr Andy Mak, National Principal, reported that North Shore Coaching College started in 1991 and now has over 65 campuses in NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA & ACT. Mr Mak mentioned that North Shore is an accredited Coaching College to run ICAS competitions by UNSW, Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) by University of Canberra, SEAMO by the Singaporean Institute of Mathematical Olympiads, Creative Problem Solving Competition (CPS) and Logical Thinking Challenge (LTC) by the University of Melbourne, and remedial programs accredited by the Australian Government. Also, North Shore is the only Coaching College, partnering with the University of Melbourne, to have won two research grants from the Australian Government. He also reminded students that they should thank their parents. He asked all students to stand up, turn to their parents and say, “Thank you Mum and Dad, thank you, I love you”. This drew a big round of applause and created a very touching atmosphere.
This event was proudly hosted by North Shore Coaching College and sponsored by HSBC Bank of Australia and Pascal Press. A lucky draw of five exciting prizes for the attendees were conducted at the conclusion of the ceremony.
