Year 6 Fastrain Extended Program
(Creative Writing, English, Maths, Science)
Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Maths & Lateral Thinking with stimulating Science experiments.
- 3.5 hour lessons weekly
- 10 weeks per term - Term 1: Week 1 – 7 is the Year 6 Fastrain Extended Program. Term 1: Week 8 – 10 the Headstart High School Program commences.

This course will enable students to:
- Prepare for High School English, Maths and Science
- Improve their genre and essay writing skills
- Develop advanced comprehension and vocabulary skills
- Develop interview techniques to assist in applications for private schools, scholarships and life
- Headstart to Year 7 mathematics curriculum; covering topics such as algebra, geometry and logic
- Develop and extend their lateral thinking skills
- Develop and extend their complex problem solving skills
- Develop and extend their reasoning and logical exercises
- Develop hands on practical skills to conduct high school Science experiments and create working models

Writing for Exam Success
Maximise performance in writing for OC, NAPLAN, Selective Schools and Scholarships examinations.
Available for Years 4-6 in Term 1 and Term 4 at selected campuses.

Writing for Exam Success is an essential course for students in Years 4-6 seeking to maximise their marks in this notoriously difficult section of the OC, Selective and Scholarships placement tests. Developed and taught by experts, each lesson focuses on the specific criteria and ideas that examiners see as crucial to quality writing.
Future Writers – Advanced Writing Skills (Senior Primary)
Under the guidance of teachers who will motivate students and develop their skills to become successful future writers.

This course will guide students to:
- Master basic English skills such as spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Develop creativity in composing effective, original imaginative writing

English, Maths and General Ability Launchpad
- 3 hour lessons
- 10 weeks per term
- Intensive academic enrichment for future examination success
- Success in English requires the mastery of a range of grammar, reading, comprehension and language skills. This course provides essential exposure to fundamental skills and concept.

Chess
(Beginners/Intermediate)

- 1 hour lessons weekly
- 10 weeks per term
- Children will be put in small groups based on their knowledge and skill in chess. They will receive a group lesson (which will differ depending on their ability), and will then be given time to practice against other children in the chess club.
